The
River Channel
|
| The
following obstructions are shown on the accompanying map
in yellow. |
Major Obstructions
|
|
1.
The major obstruction observed was the dam installation. This
is a large and intrusive concrete structure which fills what
would have been a picturesque gorge. The dam outflow is followed
by a section of river bed completely filled with concrete
and water is diverted through a tunnel on the left wall of
the gorge, emerging again just below this concrete infill.

Minor Obstructions
|
| 1.
A wire gabion constructed jetty with a concrete top extending
into the river on LHS just below the "play hole".
Its condition appeared to be sound. |
| 2.
Just below this jetty and on RHS a stone jetty of some considerable
age extends a short distance into the river. |
| 3.
A large T-shaped jetty made of gabion, stone, concrete and with
a wooden span extends into the river on the inside of the large
left hand bend. Its condition appeared to be sound. |
|
| 4.
Opposite the T-shaped jetty there were three further stone jetties
of considerable age built into the large flat pool. |
|
| 5.
All of the above jetties are presumed built for anglers to stand
on. |
| 6.
A modern concrete bridge at White Bridge crosses the Garry at
the end of the section, but causes no obstruction to the river
channel. |
