Environmental Audits
Scottish rivers and lochs are the heartbeat of the nation's natural
resources and are vital to our health and economic wellbeing. Their
protection suffers from being hidden away from casual view, almost
complete lack of planining permission requirements and lack of funding
for monitoring bodies such as SEPA.
Paddlers
obviously have a strong interest in the protection of our freshwater
assets and their mode of travel puts them in a unique position to
make a significant contribution to improving the environment.
The
first Audit was carried out on the River Garry in Inverness-shire
and a second is underway. The report uses industry standard indicators
and photographic evidence.
