Access Committee Environmental Audit

Section 1
Water Quality

No List A contaminants were observed.
The following List B contaminants were present and their position is shown on the accompanying map in red.
1. Little or no litter was observed actually in the river, although small amounts were observed at levels which would equate with the surface level when the dam was making a release.
2. At the put in just below the dam some bulding litter was observed in the form of dumped concrete and small amounts of angle iron, tubing and metal rope (see images below).
3. Some small pieces of litter, i.e. plastic bottle and polythene were observed on LHS below the put in area
4. A piece of wetsuit material was observed on the LH bank close to the "play hole"
5. Adjacent to the long pool below the play hole on LH bank lies a discarded wooden walkway.
6. On RHS, in a high water back eddy, at the top of the very large pool which forms a sharp left hand bend in the river, a quantity of cut logs, a pallet belonging to ParcelForce, blocks of polystyrene, a wheel and tyre and other litter like cans, bottles and polythene were found.
7. On the next right hand bend a metal bar was found on LHS.
8. In six locations between here and the take out small pieces of litter were observed, including scraps of polypropylene rope and polythene.
