Margaret
Chapman has been appointed National Coaching Co-ordinator and
will organise the Training Days, whilst Derek Brown has been appointed
National Coach Development Officer and will be working on increasing
the numbers of coaches and their qualifications. Yvonne Yost will
continue as National Coaching Administrator and enquiries and
requests to attend the training days should be sent to her.
The
aim is to enable paddlers to train in a disciplined environment
with other paddlers and to allow coaches from different clubs
to work together, thereby pooling knowledge and experience that
can be disseminated back to clubs to benefit all racing canoeists
in Scotland.
Paddlers
are included by invitation, but this does not stop any paddler
requesting an invitation. All paddlers will be expected to keep
a logbook and bring it to training days. They will be helped to
draw up a training programme for themselves and the coaches working
on the training days will establish contact with the paddler's
own coaches.
Paddlers
will be encouraged to compete in both Sprint and Marathon competitions,
and a group of those who have shown commitment and development
will be invited to go to the Nottingham Regattas and selected
marathon races in England as representatives of The Scottish National
Development Squad.
