The Scottish
Development Squad Training Days are run at the Lowport Centre,
Linlithgow. Paddlers wishing to take part in the SDS Training
Days must contact Yvonne Yost.
Training days
are open to any paddler who is competent to paddle Short Course
races and any coach who is interested to assist. The aim is to
enable paddlers from different clubs to train in a disciplined
environment with and to allow coaches to work together thereby
pooling knowledge and experience that can be disseminated back
to clubs to the benefit of all racing paddlers in Scotland. The
emphasis of the training days will be on coaching to develop skills
and competition techniques.
All paddlers
will be expected to keep a log book and to bring it with them
to training days. These will enable coaches to work out training
programmes to suit individual paddlers.
Paddlers are
encouraged to compete in both Sprint and Marathon events and those
who show commitment and development may be invited to race in
Sprint regattas at Nottingham and Marathon competitions as representatives
of Scotland.
