Visiting Scotland

The information here is aimed at paddlers wishing to tour the coasts lochs and rivers of Scotland.
The requirements of two groups, even for the same area are rarely the same. The objective here is to give a brief description of areas with different characteristics and then identify information sources for trip planning.

Hot tips and handy hints

  • When planning a trip stay flexible. Distances are not large. Shelter can often be found from unfavourable winds. Also note that east and west side of Scotland often have different weather conditions and are within a half days drive.
  • There are places to hire though not a lot.

If you are having difficulty putting together a trip after examining the above tomes, or if you haven't the time, then consider one of the many excellent commercial organisations which will take the hassle out of your holiday and guide you on a trip tailored to your requirements. The links page contains their contact details. And tell them who referred you and send in your trip report!
