The Scottish
Committee of the International Year of Volunteers 2001 has made
£100,000 available for a Small Grants Scheme, with funding from
the Scottish Executive.
£500 can be
applied for 'volunteer' projects: 'Sports' groups can apply for
volunteer projects. Competition can be expected for these grants
from 'Environment', 'Arts', 'Health' and 'Community' groups.

Conditions
- Must be
able to spend any grant awarded by 5 December 2001
- Must be
able to give the name of someone who can vouch for your group
* An organisation
which does not have a constitution may be sponsored by a recognised
constituted organisation. The application form should be signed
by the sponsoring organisation which will be accountable for the
grant, and seeing the monitoring requirements are met.
Guidance
- High priority
will be given to local voluntary organisations and community groups
- Low priority
will be given to request for training courses
- Low priority
will be given to request for grants to mount fundraising drives
or events
- Contributions
to salaries and running costs will not be funded
- Funding
is limited to one grant per organisation
