This is a graph we obtained from Sepa (thanks Janet) after a memorable Edinburgh Kayak Club trip to the nith in March 2002. The guage was 2.5ft when we put on and touching 7ft when we got off two hours later (these times are shown by the red lines, the blue lines show the corresponding levels). It was, needless to say, raining all day.
The entrance rapids to the gorge sections were pretty big, huge holes and waves though nothing that looked too nsaty. The gorge sections were washed out with some horrendous sucking boils.
River level information generously provided by SEPA , many thanks to them and to the numerous paddlers who contibuted observations to the 'conversion' chart and guides.
