A big tree has fallen into the main channel of Breakers Rapid, in the grounds of the Auchincruve College. It is potentially fatal to anyone swimming the shoot. It is possible to avoid it when paddling, through use of a few positive moves - but beginners' groups may not have the avoidance skills necessary. The issue of removal was raised with the river bank owners (Annbank Angling Club) who predictably turned a safety issue into an access issue and refused to remove it as it "wasn't a threat to anglers"!
