Access 2000. Issues relating to countryside access

Nith

There are two 'paddler friendly' rangers on the Drumlanrig Estate at present and that there are no major issues to contend with. We can keep them sweet by not showing our bums when changing - apparently there have a been a few complaints from visitors to the Estate. In addition please park sensitively at the take out at Drumlanrig Bridge - don't cram up the spaces, block people in or half park on the road!

More seriously, a paddler in November contracted a nasty infection through a cut sustained in the RAF Downriver Race. There is suspicion that it could be connected with a yellow substance dumped at a road layby immediately south of the usual take out point. The jury is still out on whether there is any connection - but be aware.
