The
Annual Touring Photographic Competition
The
aim of the competition is to promote the appreciation of the scope
of the SCA Touring Calendar by inviting participants to submit photographs
taken while touring.
There
are 2 classes of entry
- The Arduaine
Trophy A photograph taken from a canoe/kayak
- The "Word
& Image" Trophy A photograph taken from land
In
both classes the photograph must include at least one canoe/kayak
and must encapsulate the spirit of Touring. It is not a condition
of entry that the photo is taken on one of the tours on the Calendar.
Rules
of entry
- One photographer
may enter a maximum of three photos in each class, photos to be
taken in the current season (Touring Year 2002 will be interpreted
as 1 September 2001 to 31 August 2002 for the purposes of the
competition). (Note date change from last year)
- The ONLY
format accepted is COLOUR PRINT produced either by conventional
processing or by digital means.
- Prints can
be of any size up to a maximum of 10" x 8" and must be labeled
on the back with the name and address of the entrant, the title
of the photo, the class entered, the locale and the date taken
(may be approximate). (You are encouraged to be imaginative in
giving a title to the entry.)
- An
entry coupon must accompany each
entry (i.e. individual print). Photocopies will be accepted.
- Entrants
must be the author of and own the copyright of any photo entered.
- The Touring
Committee reserves the right to free reproduction of any entries
giving full named credit in each case.
- Every effort
will be made to ensure no loss or damage is sustained to work
submitted but entries are accepted on the basis of risk being
assumed by the entrant. All photographs will be returned no later
than 30 November 2002.
- All entries
will be displayed at the SCA exhibition and judging will be by
a visitor voting system (authors' names will not be displayed).
- Entrants
are invited to mount their photos in frames (of card). A mounting
service is offered (card frame with no backing card) as follows
: Prints up to 7" x 5" £1 larger £2.
The
frames become the property of the entrants and the photos will
be returned mounted. Last year some photographs were cropped to
give what I thought was the best effect for the mount. This will
not be the case this year. You should submit what you consider
to be the best cropped image for mounting. Remember that the mount
will obscure a small part of the edge.
It is not a condition of entry that photos MUST be mounted. Where
photos are entered unframed and no request has been made for framing,
the photograph will be entered as submitted.
