SCA SURF KEY OBJECTIVES

Relative to a baseline of December 2000

We will build on the existing structure of the Surf Committee: producing more effective management and communication.

We will produce a full team of competitors (having been ranked third nation in the last World Championships without a full team).

We intend to develop an increased number of more able, more competitive paddlers at all levels: providing depth and consistency to our results (at the last World Championships we had two seconds and a fourth in the individual events).

We are going to provide for and encourage junior participation in competition, and create a Scottish Youth Squad. We are going to provide for and encourage a broad base of paddle surfers coming into the sport.

We are going to maintain and improve the structure of surf canoeing and competition in Scotland and globally.

We are going to ensure that there is a cadre of qualified and up to date coaches to ensure the provision of many of our other key objectives.

We will be more active in seeking funding and resources that will be required to sustain and develop our increasingly active sport.

We are going to collaborate with other paddlesport streams - notably Coaching and Recreational Rivers to further the general objectives of paddle-surfing.

We will continue to raise the profile of surf kayaking on the home and world stage.
