1.1
PAID SCA PADDLESPORTS OFFICERS TO IMPROVE MANAGEMENT
[
There
should be a full time SCA officer for Coaching.
This would support coaching as a
whole, freeing up the time of its motivated practitioners to support the
development of paddle-sport, including surf.
[
There
should be a full time officer for the SCA Competition stream.
Again there is
much to be done to promote the sport. Surf has a number of highly motivated
supporters, who’s time and efforts are eaten up with the day to day running of
the present infrastructure of the sport. A paid operational officer would free
up time for long term development.
2.1 The committee will meet and communicate more
effectively.
Sub – groups will spread the workload and make
it more sustainable. The use of E-groups and a web site is to be favoured.
We will develop a thorough team training plan,
including: individual plans,
training weekends, camps, competitions at National and International level.
Youth Development
We will target Youth, Intermediate and Advanced
river paddlers and their supporters- Modern freestyle kayaks having many similar
features to surf boats.
Regional/Local Development
We will develop avenues to encourage clubs
and student bodies that have a wealth of talent, and will provide access to
coaches, specific surf craft, and good quality surfing locations.
(including International
competition and preparation programme, and sports science support)
We will involve influential paddlers: –
Coaching Committee members, recreational surf coaches, Recreational Rivers
Committee members, other competitive committees, student leaders / paddlers,
club coaches / paddlers.
Over the next 3 years we will develop a
curriculum for a Level 2 Competition Coach and Level 3 Competition Coach for
Surf.
We will have the course validated and would aim
initially to train and qualify the following:
6 Level Two Coaches; 2 Level Three Coaches.
The committee will be validated to grant Level 4
and Level 5 Surf Coach.
