Weekend tourism in the Outer Hebrides

Adventure Hebrides is pleased to announce a new and exciting development in the provision of outdoor adventure holidays in the Outer Hebrides for Spring 2003. The package is adventure weekends where clients will be able to sample the huge range of sea kayaking and outdoor adventure available in Lewis and Harris.

The package makes use of the new flight timetables starting this month. A spokesperson from Adventure Hebrides described the new package: "Clients will fly to Stornoway in Lewis on late Friday afternoon from the cities of Glasgow or Edinburgh. There is still time for an evening paddle to whet the appetite and soak up the lengthening daylight hours, before sitting down to dinner. Saturday will be a day paddling around the west coast islands or in one of the extensive sea lochs in Lewis or Harris before returning to sample good island hospitality. Clients will be accommodated in B&Bs or hotels during their stay, and make use of some of the islands fine restaurants. Sunday will provide an opportunity for another day's adventure finishing in time to catch the afternoon flight back home in time for work on Monday."

Said the company spokesperson "The Scottish Tourist Board (Visit Scotland) have long identified short weekend breaks from the Central Belt and the north of England as a huge growth area for the tourism economy. We have been looking at this potential market for many years now but have been unable to tap into it. The new airline services being run into Stornoway now mean Adventure Hebrides are able to service this market. There is a large demand for weekend adventure and this provides a great opportunity for the Western Isles tourism economy."
