I thought I would let the sea kayaking and kayak surfing worlds know about the wind factory developments which are proposed for the Islands of Lewis and Harris here in the Outer Hebrides. Strangely it was a board surfer who suggest I post this.

Lewis Wind Power Ltd have put in an appication for 234 wind turbines each 140m (440ft) high, this is just the start with more applications in the pipeline. The islands here are a sea kayaking paradise and have some amazing surf breaks and these turbines would be visible from almost all the sea round the island. Many sea kayakers and surfers are keen environmentalists and these developments would see the destruction of some very important blanket peat bog loss of bird habitat and distruction of the tourist industry here.

I am not against renewabe energy but siting of bad wind developments on an industrial scale, which I believe these are. Welcome to a terrible dilema. Destroy the environment to save the enviromnent?

If you would like to know more there are a couple of web sites
www.mwtlewis.org.uk the group formed to object
www.lewiswind.com the company for

After you have looked at the evidence, if you need to, please feel free to object using the information on the MWT web site.

Please help stop the politicians destroying our landscape.
