Access 2000. Issues relating to countryside access

Feshie

Access to the lower gorge is being taken at Lagganlia Outdoor Centre, as per the information being given in the SCA Whitewater guide. However there is only limited parking at the Centre and occasionally insensitive parking has made it difficult for turning coaches, with a consequent child protection issue. Lagganlia do not want to be obstructive, but nor do they want you to be obstructive so please check in with Reception at the Centre if you intend to leave a car there! Alternatively from Feshie Bridge, you can walk up the track on the west side of the river for a few hundred metres, and drop down through a recently cleared area to reach the river at the top of the gorge section. This brings you out on the opposite side of the road to Lagganlia access point. Please remember to use the car park 100m below the bridge as your get out point - cars on either side of the bridge obstruct what is already a hazardous and narrow bit of road and are frustrating for local residents.

November 2004: The latest storms have caused a lot of tree damage on the upper Feshie. The river has now re-routed itself through trees after the bank has washed away and the old channel was blocked by trees and roots fallen in the same incident. It is only just passable in very low flows and extreme care should be taken.

It is approx 2 km above Lagganlia.
